TOKYO -- SIIX, Japan's largest EMS company, plans to invest a total of nearly $12 million toward new plants in Europe and China.

The firm said it will spend 50 million yuan ($7.37 million) to set up SIIX Hubei in east-central China. It will also spend 4 million euros ($4.38 million) to set up SIIX Hungary Kft.

Both units will manufacture printed circuit board assemblies, the firm added.

SIIX said it is expanding in China to accommodate its local business there, which has been growing rapidly over the past several years. It selected Hubei Province because of its ties to the automotive and high-tech industries, plus an abundance of young labor. The company intends to locate in Xiaogan, Hubei Province, and pursue customers in the consumer electronics and industrial markets. The 63,819 sq. ft. site will employ 100 workers to start.

SIIX also has plants in Dongguan and Shanghai.

In Europe, the pending Nagykőrös, Hungary, site will employ 100 persons to start. Operations at the 181,275 sq. ft plant are set to begin in September 2017.

SIIX has a manufacturing site in Slovakia as its production center in Europe.
