MassTech EMS Offers Pb-Free Conversion Program |

WOBURN, MA — Masstech EMS today announced a family of service offerings
designed to help customers comply with changing environmental
regulations. The firm's Lead Free
Conversion Program helps OEMs prepare for and
comply with the EU RoHS directive.
In a press release, Masstech said the service helps companies
assess current products to identify leaded components and provides
recommendations on available options for Pb-free replacement parts or product redesign.
RoHS requires that all products distributed in
Europe be Pb-free by July 1, 2006.
The comprehensive, step-by-step
service includes:
- BoM scrubs: detailed software-generated analysis of every component in a specific
product to identify leaded components that require replacement.
- Recommendations on Pb-free replacement parts: specific suggestions
on replacement parts from a client’s Approved Vendor List or
viable options from other suppliers.
- Component intelligence for reduced risks: information on the
viability and risks of available replacement parts, including product
lifecycle information and part class analysis.
- Parametric data analysis: technical data on material composition of
replacement parts.
Once the assessment process is complete and components selected, Masstech can provide procurement and manufacturing services.
In a statement, Jerry Panos, president and CEO of
Masstech, said, “For many companies, becoming

take the pain and complexity out of the effort by providing a pragmatic
and manageable process."
The firm has been a leader in preparing its customers for compliance.
Earlier in the year, Masstech sponsored a seminar, bringing in several
experts on legislative and manufacturing issues.
