GYEONGGI-DO, KOREA – Korea's Ministry of the Environment seeks public comment on a pair of environmental rules tied to electronics equipment recycling.

Through June 7, the MoE will accept comments to the recently issued Enforcement Ordinance and the Enforcement Regulation of the Act on the Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Vehicles (Korean RoHS).

The draft Enforcement Ordinance stipulates products subject to restriction on the use of hazardous substances; concentration limits of hazardous substances; establishment of annual recycling rate; declaration on the compliance with the concentration limits of hazardous substances; provision of recycling information; mandatory recycling rate for electrical and electronic equipment; recycling rate and methods for end-of-life vehicles; permission of collective recycling schemes; submission of recycling performance for end-of-life vehicles, and registration of end-of-life vehicle recyclers.

The draft Enforcement Regulation contains recycling methods and standards of electrical and electronic equipment; submission of a recycling requirement implementation plan; submission of a recycling requirement implementation report, and standards for the registration of end-of-life vehicle recyclers.

Comments on the drafts will be accepted through June 7 by fax at 82-2-504-9289 or email: jaeyoung@me.go.kr.
