Consumer Electronics in China on Rise Print E-mail

LONDON -- China's consumer electronics market is expected to grow at a compound annual average of 12% from 2007 to 2011, says research firm Report Buyer.

That's a tick higher than the 11.71% CAGR China posted from 2002 to 2006.

The report's authors found that companies are shifting research and production toward more advanced products, such as LCD TVs, digital TVs, DVD recorders and high-end digital cameras.

Key market drivers are continuously falling prices and increasing disposable income, which result in consumers spending more on electronics products.

In terms of sales volume, among home appliances TVs will post the highest sales followed by washing machines. In the sound and images segment, portable media players and digital videocamera sales will show CAGRs of 39.43% and 15.21%, respectively.
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> Mobile phones and PCs are among the consumer electronics with low penetration rates, indicating ample room for growth in sales in the medium-term.
