Nordson's Q2 Sets Record Print E-mail

WESTLAKE, OH -- Nordson Corp., parent to several big-name electronics OEMs, reported second-quarter performance sales of $294 million, up 22% from last year.

Acquisitions added about 6% growth, while organic growth was 9%.

The Advanced Technology segment reported gains of 26% (8% organic), its fourth consecutive quarter of growth in excess of 20%.

Operating profit increased 58% to a record $54 million. or 18% of sales. Advanced Technology topped 20%, up from 14.1% last year and 13% last quarter.

The Advanced Technology group includes Asymtek, Dage, EFD and YesTech, among others.

For the quarter, Advanced Technology saw a 10% growth in orders, fueled by growth in Europe and Asia Pacific where orders are up 32% and 27%, respectively. It was the third straight quarter of double-digit order growth for the segment.

On a conference call with analysts, Nordson chairman Ed Campbell noted strength in Asymtek and EFD and "good and improving performance from the acquisitions," which included Dage and YesTech.

"We feel real good about the momentum that this business has," Campbell said. "We have a good solid look at the third quarter."

"It’s less clear for the fourth quarter," he added.
