SEOULLG Electronics is considering outsourcing its handset manufacturing, a company spokesman said yesterday. The company, the world's fourth-largest cellphone OEM, is eyeing Flextronics and Foxconn as possible partners.

"We are considering the possibility of entering talks with OEM companies," said LG spokesman Choi Jun-hyuk. He added that "companies like Foxconn and Flextronics are the world leaders in OEM manufacturing, so it would be natural that there would be talks with them when the time comes."

LG operates six cellphone plants and expects to top 100 million units sold this year.
