Cirrus Electronics CEO Sentenced in Export Case |

WASHINGTON -- The chief executive of Cirrus Electronics has been sentenced to 35 months in jail after pleading guilty to illegally exporting electronics components used in missiles to India.
In return for pleading to exporting the
components to Indian government entities, guilty, Parthasarathy
Sudarshan will also pay a $60,000 fine. The components are used in ballistic missile guidance systems.
Sudarshan is a citizen of Singapore, and will be deported upon his release from prison.
The violations reportedly took place between 2002 and 2006. Since 1998, the US
has banned domestic companies from exporting certain goods and services
to India.
Cirrus is based in Simpsonville, SC, and has operations in Bangalore, India, and Singapore. |
