Microscan to Buy Siemens' Machine Vision |

RENTON, WA – Microscan will purchase Siemens' machine vision business for an unspecified amount. The deal is expected to close Sept. 19. Microscan said it would maintain the Nashua, NH, site of the Siemens' business, formerly Acuity CiMatrix, and retain the majority of the workforce.
In a press release today, Microcan said the acquisition would enhance its leadership position in customer traceability. The company designs and manufactures data acquisition and controls gear. For customers and distribution partners, the transition of ownership is expected to be seamless.
The two companies have a tie in that Microscan president Jeff Timms is a former Siemens executive.
In a statement, Timms said, "The purchase allows Microscan to expand our vision and smart camera portfolio to the benefit of our customers and partners worldwide. Vision products for identification and inspection are a growing aspect of the precision data acquisition and control market. The acquisition brings with it a depth of expertise in data matrix and vision product design that is second to none." |
