SANTA ANA, CA – A PV Module Reliability webinar will take place Jan. 17.

Sarah Kurtz, manager of the Reliability Group at NREL, will discuss the International PV Module Quality Assurance Task Force Activities. The presentation will focus on the work on developing a single set of tests to provide confidence in the ability to predict the long-term performance of PV modules.

Task Force Activities include PV QA guidelines for manufacturing consistency; testing for thermal and mechanical fatigue, including vibration; testing for humidity, temperature, and voltage; testing for diodes, shading and reverse bias; testing for UV, temperature and humidity; communication of PV QA ratings to the industry; testing for wind loading, thin-film PV and CPV.

The webinar is sponsored by SEMA and Semitracks.

Eastern-US: China’s New Competitor?

Parity emerges among EMS Factories from Asia, Mexico and the US.

For the first time in years we see parity in the Eastern US among EMS factories from Asia, Mexico and the US. This EMS market condition will permit American OEMs (the EMS industry refers to OEMs as customers) to have more EMS pathways to choose from. Now more than ever, such EMS assignments will require deeper investigation relating to the OEMs’ evaluation of manufacturing strategies.

The Human Touch

For those who count on the electronics industry for big feats, it’s been a remarkable couple of years.
