CREEDMOOR, NC -- Flextronics will close its electronics assembly factory here and lay off 157 employees by the end of the first quarter.

Layoffs will begin at the end of February and completed by the end of March, the EMS company said in a state filing.

Programs will be moved to other Flextronics operations in the US, the company said.

The site at one time built Redbox video rental equipment, but it is unclear whether that's still the case.

Flextronics acquired the Creedmoor site as part of its acquisition of Solectron. It also operates assembly sites in Charlotte and Asheville, NC.
