HAVANT, UK -- Season Group will acquire fellow EMS Outsource Electronics Ltd. for an undisclosed amount in a deal scheduled to close in June.

Havant-based Outsource has a 25,000 sq. ft. factory here and has collaborated with Season Group since 2011.

In a press release, Season president and COO Carl Hung said, "We have been working closely with OEL for around 18 months on a number of projects. During this time we have had excellent feedback from customers involved in these joint activities; a testimony that they clearly value the opportunity to validate their designs in the UK before moving production to Season Group's other sites.

"We are confident that the relationship has already had a positive effect on both Season Group and OEL business. Bringing OEL formally within the Season Group will give customers the confidence to accelerate this activity and, I believe, will attract new customers."

The acquisition will give Season Group printed circuit board assembly, electromechanical and cable Assembly and after-market services in Europe and North America. Season also has assembly plants in Malaysia and China.

Eastern-US: China’s New Competitor?

Parity emerges among EMS Factories from Asia, Mexico and the US.

For the first time in years we see parity in the Eastern US among EMS factories from Asia, Mexico and the US. This EMS market condition will permit American OEMs (the EMS industry refers to OEMs as customers) to have more EMS pathways to choose from. Now more than ever, such EMS assignments will require deeper investigation relating to the OEMs’ evaluation of manufacturing strategies.
