FREDERICK, MARYLAND, AUGUST 28, 2019

ACDi broadens manufacturing capabilities with investment in new equipment for its Frederick, MD headquarters with the addition of two Mycronic MY300DX pick and place machines. The purchase was made due to increasing demand for electronics manufacturing services and to complement other new equipment purchases previously announced.

“After evaluating several manufacturers’ pick and place machines, we ultimately chose the MY300 line from Mycronic for its flexibility in the high-mix environment we operate in,” said Garret Maxson, ACDi’s Director of Operations. He adds, “The Mycronic machines fit seamlessly with our existing SMT lines leveraging efficiencies and feeder compatibility across the production floor. Industry 4.0 is a reality now at ACDi.”

The new MY300 provides a 40 percent smaller footprint than previous models.

It also achieves higher speeds due to automatic job selection, rolling changeovers, as well as faster board transfer and tool changes. Throughput is increased significantly due to simultaneous assembly of multiple boards. Additionally, the improved line scan vision system ensures a future-proof solution for the most advanced components. Demands are constantly on the rise for higher degrees of automation, more component varieties and increased overall productivity – particularly among high-mix manufacturers. The equipment is able to support 400 plus BOM line item assemblies.

The MY300DX17 is rated at 40k components per hour, holds 224 8mm feeders, has a part placement range of 01005 up to 73mm x 140mm, weights up to 140 grams, ability to place components down to 0.15mm pitch. The MY300, built on a compact and user-friendly platform design meets all of these needs for manufacturers of electronics.

In addition to the new equipment, the company also hired six additional personnel to support the increased capacity.
