Lexington, SC, September 2019 – Weller Tools, the world’s No.1 brand in hand soldering solutions, is co-hosting a technical symposium with industry partners MicroCare Corporation and Indium Corporation during the SMTA New England Expo & Tech Forum at the Boxboro Regency Hotel & Conference Center on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
Scheduled to take place before the start of the expo, the focus of the reliability event is to gather electronics industry leaders to deliver presentations in the areas of their expertise.
Bubba Powers, Manager, Technical Services for Weller Professional Tools – North America, will discuss the Reliability of Robotics for Electronics Manufacturing, which gives an overview of the process of automation in the soldering workplace, and discusses what factors are critical for high-reliability electronics in both manual and automated manufacturing environments.
Also presenting at the SMTA-sponsored symposium will be Tom Tattersall, MicroCare COO. His presentation, Perfecting a Cleaning Process for Hi-Rel Electronics, will illustrate how reliability is a continuum of performance based on product complexity and anticipated lifespan. To be success over the long-term, hardware with demanding performance requirements or with long service lives need to be engineered from the start with a focus on reliablity.
In addition, Indium Corporation’s Meagan Sloan, Technical Support Engineer, will present The Basics of SIR and ECM. SIR and ECM test the electrically conductive and corrosive nature of a flux residue after being exposed to heat and humidity. These tests are important in the electronics industry and are increasingly being used by paste and electronics maufacturers to determine the long-term reliability of flux residues.
The symposium is open to both SMTA member and non-members. Contact the SMTA New England to register.
