SINGAPORE -- Solectron Corp. today opened a facility dedicated to manufacturing medical products such as  high-performance liquid chromatographs and fluidics subassemblies.

The Singapore Medical Center of Excellence is sited in Chai Chee, Singapore's Techno Park, and employs staff who have worked at leading medical OEMs.
In a statement, Solectron executive vice president of operations Marc Onetto said, "This new Center in Singapore allows Solectron to provide medical companies unprecedented outsourcing capabilities and a partner who understands and caters to their needs." "Working cooperatively with Singapore's Economic Development board, we are helping to attract medical instrumentation companies to the region.

Besides manufacturing products, the center will be used to refurbish medical and diagnostic medical equipment and devices for resale in China.
