SAN JOSE – The worldwide EMS market grew 17.3% in 2007 and will continue to grow briskly in the coming years, a new research report claims.

The EMS growth far outpaced the broader electronics assembly market, which grew 3.9% last year, according to Electronic Trend Publications.

The firm estimates that total electronics assembly value was $958 billion in 2007 and will grow 46% to nearly $1.4 trillion in 2012. The EMS industry, meanwhile, will nearly double over the same period, growing 89% to $493 billion in 2012.

ETP’s report also includes assessments of many major EMS and ODM firms.
