JASPER, IN -- Kimball Electronics will close the plant of recently acquired
Genesis Electronics Manufacturing and move the production and staff to its own Tampa, FL, site -- on the other side of the parking lot.
Consolidation of the two facilities is scheduled to be completed in approximately six months.
The acquisition was first revealed by
Circuits Assembly on Monday.
Genesis reported 2007 sales of about $16 million. Kimball today said it would move the operations and workforce from the existing Genesis facility into the current KEG-Tampa facility. Genesis' factory was once owned by
Jabil Circuit. It is unclear what Kimball will do with the site.
“This opportunity to combine these manufacturing resources will better support the growing demand for specialty medical, high end industrial and public safety products,” said Don Charron, president of Kimball Electronics, in a press release.
