SAN JOSE – 2009 will be a blip on the EMS market, a research firm said Monday.

Worldwide EMS sales reached $294 billion in 2008, up 12% year-over-year, says Electronic Trend Publications.

The EMS market faces a decline in 2009, but growth should return in 2010 and continue for years, the firm said. EMS industry revenue will reach $435 billion in 2013, says ETP.

The firm found that Asian factories accounted for 62% of the industry's production last year. Also, the computer and peripherals market was responsible for 36% of the industry's revenue.

Foxconn (Hon Hai) remains the largest EMS provider, with revenues more than twice those of No. 2 Flextronics, according to ETP.
