TOKYOJuki Corp. updated its forecast for its fiscal first half of 2009, predicting net sales of $275.3 million. The figure would be down 49% compared to 2008.
 
The net loss is expected to be nearly $87 million, compared to a net loss of $5.8 million during the same period last year.
 
Full fiscal 2009 net sales are expected to be $702.3 million, down 19.1% year-over-year. The net loss is forecast to be $103.7 million, compared to a net loss of $104.2 million in 2008.
 
Juki notes its current financial situation is influenced by the worldwide economic recession; business is falling short of its original projections.
 
The market for pick-and-place equipment hit bottom in the first quarter, the firm says, and the severe situation is continuing.
