IPC has released IPC-4202A,
Flexible Base Dielectrics for Use in Flexible Printed Circuitry.
The revision provides data to help determine the capability and compatibility of flexible base dielectric materials in manufacturing flexible printed circuitry and flexible flat cables.
Flexible base material specification sheets have been updated with the newest properties for specification material types, such as polyimide, fluorocarbon and polyethylene teraphthalate films; reinforced epoxy; aramid paper and others.
In addition, dielectric metrics of properties such as permittivity and loss tangents have been expanded to include frequencies of 1 MHz, 1 GHz, and 10 GHz.
The standard establishes current classification system, qualification and quality conformance requirements, and test methods for flexible base dielectric materials.
