OTTAWA – Canada’s Ministers of the Environment and of Health have determined resin and rosin acids will continue to be permitted to be used in manufacturing.

The ministers determined that the substances in question do not meet any of the criteria set out in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act of 1999, and gave notice that no further action would be taken on the substances at this time.

The substances, which are used in soldering flux, among other products, were under review for toxicity.
