OLATHE, KS -- Elecsys reported first fiscal quarter sales from its electronics manufacturing services segment rose 50% year-over-year to $3 million.

For the period ended July 31, overall net income was $107,000, up from a loss of $396,000 last year. Overall sales were $5.2 million, up 43% from a year ago. The company also designs and makes proprietary products such as remote monitoring and telemetry equipment.

The company said EMS sales are projected to remain stable in the near term with currently scheduled orders in backlog, the planned addition of several new customers, and the transition of several projects from design to production offset by a potential for electronic raw material shortages that may impact shipments. Total backlog as of July 31 was $6.2 million up 49% from one year earlier and $153,000 sequentially.
