TAIPEI -- The latest accusations claiming worker abuses at Foxconn Technology Group China factories are false, the electronics manufacturer said today.

The denial comes in response to a report last week in which university researchers claimed the world's largest EMS company forced employees to work excessive overtime, cheated them out of overtime payments, and failed to ensure safe working conditions. The report was based on surveys of some 1,736 workers at the EMS company’s factories in nine cities.

In a statement reported by Bloomberg, Foxconn extolled its commitment to a safe working environment and less dependence on overtime. "Foxconn said it aims to meet industry standards of not more than 60 hours per week, including overtime," Bloomberg reported.
