WUZHONG, CHINA -- Flextronics opened its latest computing facility here, its fourth in China, as it aims to become a major player in the PC manufacturing business.
The one million sq. ft. campus is strategically aligned with Flextronics' other computing sites in Beijing, Shanghai and Wujiang and provides complete design and manufacturing services for desktop, computers, notebook products and tablets.
Flextronics expects to hire more than 12,000 engineering and manufacturing employees for the site.
The company said it chose the Wuzhong Export Processing Zone for its infrastructure, government support, talent pool and proximity to the Suzhou Higher Education Center.
"The Wuzhong campus launch is an exciting development for Flextronics Computing that reiterates our commitment to growth in China. In our continued focus to support the growing computing space, our cutting-edge R&D services and value-added manufacturing will significantly strengthen our brand as a customer, employer and partner of choice," said Sean Burke, president of Flextronics Computing segment
