CHENGDU, CHINA -- Foxconn reportedly will invest $2 billion to build an assembly plant here, according to several published reports today.
Foxconn hasn't commented on the reports, but plans a press conference later today. Foxconn is moving production from the Shenzhen area, where problems with rising wages and worker suicides have plagued the company this year.
The contract electronics manufacturer plans to spend $3.5 billion on a nearby campus, according to previous report. There is no confirmation as to whether the $2 billion is related to the previously reported sum.
