NEWARK, NY -- IEC Electronics reported December quarter net profits of $1.1 million, up 39% year-over-year.

 

For the period ended Dec. 31, the electronics manufacturing services provider's revenue was up 59% to $28.7 million, boosted by acquisitions. Operating income rose $650,00 to $1.96 million.

In the past 13 months year IEC has acquired General Technology Corp.'s EMS operations, Southern California Braiding and Celmet.

The contract printed circuit board assembler experienced challenges introducing a number of projects while also managing an unusual level of product mix variations, resulting in some temporary inefficiencies amounting to approximately $200,000, the firm said in a press release, adding that those inefficiencies have been resolved.

Chairman and CEO W. Barry Gilbert said, "Some of our customers who were experiencing difficulty during the recession have begun to recover. Their commercial outlook is substantially brighter and we expect to reap the benefit of that growth, in addition to the market share gains we have made."
