SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Raven Industries said operating income at its Electronic Systems Division fell 14% to $1.7 million on a slight drop in sales.

For the period, sales were down less than 1%, to $13.7 million. The company cited a less favorable product mix and some supply-chain issues.

For the fiscal year ended Jan. 31, the unit's sales rose 4% to a record $65.9 million from $63.5 million in the prior year. Operating income rose 10% to $9.9 million compared with $9 million a year ago. Net income rose 27% to $5.6 million.

The company, which also makes engineered films and other products, announced record sales and earnings for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended Jan. 31. For the year, sales reached $314.7 million, up 32% from fiscal 2010. Net income was up 42% to $40.5 million.

For the quarter, sales increased 27% to $70.7 million from a year ago.
