DANDERYD, SWEDEN -- EMS firm Note returned to profitability in the June quarter, reporting after-tax profits of SEK 15.5 million ($2.4 million), up from a loss of SEK 11.4 million a year ago.

Sales increased by 9% to SEK 326.8 million ($50.1 million), and operating profits rose to SEK 23.5 million from a loss of SEK 3.8 million. The operating margin was 7.2%, up from a loss of 1.3%. Earnings after investments were SEK 21.2 million, up from a loss of SEK 5.9 million last year. Cash flow after investments was SEK 14.5 million.

Year to date sales are up 12%. The company had engaged in significant restructuring last year, closing some unprofitable units and selling others.
