TAIPEI – In 2012, Sony plans to shift some three to four million orders for LCD TVs to Foxconn from Wistron, according to published reports.
Sony's LCD TV sales are expected to remain flat at 22 million, with 70% to 80% of total units outsourced to Taiwan ODMs, say reports.
The shift in orders could put Foxconn in the No. 1 position, instead of current leader TPV Technology.
With orders from Sharp and others, Foxconn's LCD TV shipments may reach 16 million units in 2012, up more than 100% year-over-year.
