SANTA ANA, CA -- Powerwave Technologies has filed suit against Microelectronics Technology and MTI Laboratory in a California US District Court claiming patent infringement.

The suit alleges MTI is infringing US Patent 6,818,477, "Method of Mounting a Component in an Edge Plated Hole Formed in a Printed Circuit Board." The suit further alleges that MTI is making, using, selling, offering for sale or importing communications products that contain infringing circuit boards.

The patent, which credits William K. Veitschegger and Scott Sauer as inventors, was filed in August 2002, describes a method of mounting an RF power transistor or attenuator to a multilayer PCB and pallet using preformed solder and a heatsink, then soldering using IR reflow.

Powerwave is a supplier of wireless communications network products.
