MANILA, THE PHILIPPINES -- Filipino government agencies are actively recruiting Foxconn, hoping rising labor costs in China will encourage the world's largest EMS company to locate certain manufacturing here.
Foxconn is said to be in the planning stages for the possible relocation of some of its manufacturing operations, but the company has given no clear indication what, if anything, might be moved.
The Philippines Department of Trade and Industry has set its sights on Foxconn as a company to recruit for investing here, according to local reports.
Foxconn is known as a firm negotiator that seeks tax and other incentives in exchange for siting its massive contract printed circuit board assembly plants.
