IRVINE, CA -- Probe Manufacturing reported net income of $13,000 for the first quarter ended March 30, down 68% from a year ago.

The electronics manufacturing services company reported sales rose 42% year-over-year to $1.29 million. It marked the ninth consecutive quarter of growth.

The company swung from a net loss of $6,000 in the December quarter, and profits were down from $41,000 in the March 2011 period.

Gross profit was 35% in the quarter, compared to 29% in the same period in 2011.

In a press release, CEO Kam Mahdi said, “We continue our transition towards a more stable, predictable, and diversified portfolio that generates increased operating margins."
