WUXI, CHINA -- Nam Tai Electronics's long-awaited expansion in Wuxi has begun.
The Top 25 contract electronics manufacturer has entered into an agreement with local governmental authorities in Wuxi to purchase a parcel of land of approximately 470,000 sq. ft. On July 13, the company will host a stone-laying ceremony for the construction of the facilities' new sections.
A major provider of flex circuit subassemblies, Nam Tai currently operates in a 500,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant in Wuxi.
A similar planned expansion in Shenzhen has not progressed, however. Nam Tai purchased land use rights in Guangming Hi-Tech Industrial Park six years ago and provided additional compensation to farmers occupying the land, but still awaits release of the land by local governmental authorities.
