LOUISVILLE, KY -- Sypris Solutions' contract electronics assembly sales were flat in the second quarter but jumped 15.2% sequentially.

The company's electronics manufacturing services division sales were $16.1 million for the period ended July 1, down from $16.2 million the prior year. Gross profit was $4.3 million, up from $1 million in 2011 and $2.6 million in the March quarter.

Overall revenue increased 16% from last year to $98.9 million. Income from continuing operations was $5 million, up from a loss of $1.6 million. Net income was $4.4 million, up from a net loss of $1.6 million.

CEO Jeffrey Gill said Sypris is planning for a progressive recovery in shipments and margins in its Electronics Group throughout the year.
