WASHINGTON --  The International Trade Commission has launched an investigation to determine whether imports of certain ICs are violating patent infringement laws.

The investigation comes at the request of Realtek Semiconductor Corp., which also requested an exclusion order directing US Customs to prohibit the entry of the infringing products into the US, and cease and desist orders, which would require the named respondents to cease actions, including selling infringing imported articles out of US inventory.

ITC has not yet disclosed the respondents, other than to say they are located in California.
