KAUNAS, LITHUANIA -- Kitron expects to create 60 jobs as part of its previously announced expansion here.

In March, the company said it would invest nearly 5 million euros to expand its 208,000 sq. ft. electronics manufacturing facility. The plant builds printed circuit boards for the transportation, industrial, medical and marine end-markets.

The site beat out Kitron campuses in Norway, China and the US due to logistical advantages, labor cost and local resources, the site managing director Mindaugas Sestokas told local press.

According to the CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Directory of EMS Companies, the site employs 355 workers.

Some portion of the investment is earmarked for improving the technological research infrastructure at local universities, including the Kaunas University of Technology.
