TOKYO -- Omron today reported revenues for its Industrial Automation Group are down 6.5% through the first three quarters of its fiscal year. The unit includes the company's electronics AOI development group.
Year-to-date through the first three quarters ended Dec. 31, sales to external customers had fallen 5.6% in Japan and 7.3% elsewhere. Segment profits were down 26.9%.
Omron said its automotive and electronic component-related industries were flat and demand was sluggish in semiconductor-related industries. The Americas was firm, supported by a robust automotive industry, but European demand remained weak. Most of Asia's demand was solid but also affected by semiconductor sluggishness, the firm said.
