HERTFORDSHIRE, UK -- Soldertec in March will host a two-day conference on solder technology, featuring speakers from industry and government.

Soldertec, which is a subgroup of the International Tin Research Institute, an association of tin miners and producers, is sponsoring the March 5-6 event as an update on legislative and enforcement and the results of the latest Solders Roadmap.

Among the keynote speakers are Iain Nicol, who will be presenting on RoHS, and Steve Andrews, who will speak about the WEEE Directives. Both are from the UK government’s Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) Green Economy Team. The keynoters will address changes introduced by the EC recasts of the RoHS and WEEE Directives and will discuss their implications for the electronics sector.

The event will be held March 5-6 at the Copthorne Hotel, near Windsor.

"We are very excited about this event because the authoritative keynote speakers will be providing expert insights into the requirements of the RoHS and WEEE Directives,” said Dr. Jeremy Pearce, ITRI technology team leader. “We have a high caliber of other speakers which will be announced shortly; and thus, this will be a unique opportunity for delegates to hear first-hand the latest soldering technology challenges and solutions for tomorrow’s electronics industry.”
