STAFFORD, TX -- Flextronics will close its EMS plant here and lay off 150 workers, according to the company.

The 100,000 sq. ft. factory will be shuttered in stages during the second quarter, and production moved to other Flextronics' sites.

Stafford is one of three plants the contract assembler operates in Texas. The company recently renewed a lease on over 1 million sq. ft. of space in Austin, TX, and also has a plant in Plano, TX.

Flextronics previously announced it would close its Creedmor, NC, EMS plant.

The moves are seen as Flextronics' attempt to realign capacity to current demand. Sales at the EMS firm fell 18% in the December quarter.
