TAIPEI – Cellphone ODM Foxconn International Holdings posted a net loss of $316.4 million in 2012 as a result of weak orders from some of its major customers. The firm reported a net profit of $72.8 million in 2011.

The business, a subsidiary of Foxconn Technology Group, saw lower-than-expected sales from Amazon and Apple and lower margins from Xiaomi and Huawei, said Dale Gai, analyst at Barclays Research.

FIH said it planned to change its name to FIH Mobile to avoid confusion with its parent Foxconn Technology Group.
