TORONTO -- SMTC executive vice president-operations Paul Blom resigned today, effective immediately.

Blom is a well-known name in EMS circles. He was at IBM in the days when Big Blue ran one of the world's largest electronics manufacturing operations. He then helped found Celestica.

Blom was interviewed by CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY last year.
