TAIPEI -- Foxconn's chairman says the company plans to expand in the US, although he did not reveal further details.

Terry Gou told company shareholders that the world's largest electronics ODM/EMS company could also split more of its 20-plus business units off into standalone companies as a means to generate higher sales and ultimately public offerings.

Gou also indicated the firm plans to push harder toward generating its own IP and licensing royalties.
