TEMPE, AZ -- Jabil will close its EMS facility here over the next nine to 12 months, and potentially lay off more than 730 employees.

Production will be relocated to Chihuahua, Mexico; Malaysia and Vietnam, industry sources told CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY.

The nearly 200,000 sq. ft. plant employs 730 workers, Jabil told CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY. Some of those workers will be relocated to other positions, while the others will have the opportunity to apply for openings within Jabil, company spokeswoman Beth Walters told CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY.

The company acquired the plant from Varian in 2005.

Among the major customers at the site were Honeywell and Cobham, which together made up more than 90% of the facility's production. However, Honeywell moved its programs about six months ago, and Cobham left around the same time, sources told CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY.
