GUIZHOU, CHINA -- Foxconn Electronics on Monday held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new plants in this Western China city. Chairman Terry Guo was on hand to cite the area's transportation systems and geographic location, which are seen as advantages to making this a logistics hub for the region.

Guizhou government officials forecast revenues from Foxconn's plants will reach CNY50 billion ($8.2 billion) in 2016 and hit CNY100 billion ($16.5 billion) in 2018.

Foxconn reportedly is also hiring seasonal workers in order to keep up with production ramps ahead of the holiday buying season, and to handle higher orders for IT devices for Xiaomi and Meizu.
