MESA, AZFoxconn is considering opening a manufacturing plant in Arizona, just after Apple announced it would buy a factory in Mesa.

Both firms are on the list for state property, energy and employment tax breaks and money from the Arizona Competes Fund, say reports.

The Arizona AFL-CIO and other state lawmakers are reportedly unhappy with the idea of tax breaks for Foxconn, a Taipei-based company that has been criticized for low wages and poor working conditions.

Lawmakers are interested in more openness from the Commerce Authority and others about large incentives like the ones that may go to Apple and Foxconn, say reports.

Foxconn’s plant in Juarez could potentially be part of the supply chain to Apple’s glass component plant in Mesa.
