BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND – IPC’s hand soldering competition will occur at National Electronics Week 2014 here in April.

Competitors will compete for cash prizes: 1st place is £300; 2nd place is £200; 3rd place is £100.

The first place winner will also earn the chance to compete at the IPC World Championship at IPC Apex Expo 2015 in San Diego.

Over three days, participants will compete to build a functional electronics assembly within a 45-minute time limit. Assemblies will be judged on soldering in accordance with IPC-A-610E Class 3 criteria, the speed at which the assembly was produced, and overall electrical functionality of the assembly.

IPC-A-610 Master Instructors will serve as the judges.

Hand soldering competition entries will be accepted until Mar. 25. Participation is on a first come, first served basis.
