SUWANEE, GA -- Hisense plans to open an assembly plant in the US, the flat panel TV maker announced at the Consumer Electronics Show this week.

The company began distributing its consumer electronics in North America five years ago. It sold some 2 million units in the US last year and expects that total to rise to 3 million in 2014.
