LAS VEGASKimball Electronics, Mack Technologies, Qualitel and United Manufacturing Assembly led the winners of the 2014 Service Excellence Awards, CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY announced today.

The annual awards recognize electronics manufacturing services providers and equipment, materials and software suppliers that received the highest customer service ratings, as judged by their own customers. The awards were presented today during a ceremony at IPC Apex Expo in Las Vegas. The EMS companies with the highest scores in each of five individual service categories also received awards. (Overall winners were excluded from winning individual categories.)

In the small-company category (less than $20 million in revenue), Precise Connections and STI Electronics tied for dependability. DCA Manufacturing won for quality and also tied ACD for value, while ACD and Precision Assembly Technologies tied for responsiveness. Spectrum Assembly took home the award for technology. For firms with revenue between $20 million and $100 million, Applied Technical Services and Western Electronics took home top honors for quality. Applied Technical Services also won in the technology category. Electronic Systems Inc. hit the trifecta with awards for responsiveness, value, and dependability.

For EMS companies with revenue between $101 million and $500 million, EPIC Technologies swept all five individual categories for the second year in a row. Electronics assembly equipment award winners were Europlacer for pick-and-place; Speedprint Technology for screen printing; Kyzen Corp. for cleaning/processing materials; Nordson YESTech for test and inspection; Nordson EFD for materials; Nordson Asymtek for dispensing, Heller Industries for soldering equipment, Aegis Software for supply chain/ERP/MRP software, Air Vac Engineering for rework/repair, and Count On Tools for automation/handling equipment.

“There were several new entrants in the Service Excellence Awards this year, which we take as a sign that companies value being recognized for customer satisfaction,” said CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY editor-in-chief Mike Buetow. Customers of SEA participants rated each company on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (superior) in five service categories. A donation of $4,000 was made on the participants’ behalf to the Surface Mount Technology Association’s Charles Hutchins Educational Grant. Part of each participant’s entry fee was included in the donation. “We are grateful for the overwhelming industry participation that allows us to support this one-of-a-kind grant,” Buetow said.   This is the 22nd year CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY has sponsored the awards program.
