FREMONT, NH – The SMTA Boston Chapter is hosting a plant tour at the Precision Placement Machines facility here Apr. 22.

The meeting will include a presentation by PPM’s owner and president, Tom Nisbet, on the dos and don’ts of SMT line configuration, tips for rapid changeover, choosing the right equipment, and the assembly equipment refurbishing process.

David Suraski of AIM Solder will discuss a summary of the firm’s program for the environmentally responsible procurement of raw materials, involvement in the Conflict Free Tin Initiative (CFTI), manufacture of solder paste and bar solder, recycling of returned paste and bar solder, and reduction in lead.

Scott Mazur of Benchmark Electronics will present an overview of Benchmark’s environmental initiatives, compliance with the EU’s RoHS and WEEE Directives, reduction in the use of hazardous chemicals, enhanced recycling, collaborative research efforts, and future goals.
