NATICK, MA -- A US District Court jury has found in favor of Cognex in the company’s patent infringement lawsuit against Microscan Systems and Microscan's development and manufacturing partner, The Code Corp. The lawsuit filed by Cognex alleged that Microscan’s Mobile Hawk handheld imager infringed US Patent No. 7,874,487, held by Cognex.

The jury’s found that Microscan willfully infringed the patent and awarded Cognex its lost profits.

In a statement, chief executive Robert J. Willett thanked the jury for its finding.“We are very gratified by the jury’s decision in this case. Cognex has invested significant resources to develop proprietary and innovative ID code-reading technology. On behalf of the Cognex engineering teams that developed this technology and the many customers around the world who purchase our products because of their innovations, we want to thank the jury for its decision.”

The case was tried in US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Cognex filed suit last year.
