JASPER, IN -- Kimball today reported June quarter sales at its electronics manufacturing services unit rose 3% year-over-year to $199 million.

Net income was down 4% to $7.2 million, while operating income rose 4% to $8.94 million. for its fourth quarter of fiscal 2014.

"The automotive, industrial and medical markets we serve within our EMS segment remain strong," president and chief executive James C. Thyen said. T"he EMS segment ended the fiscal year with solid performance in the fourth quarter, with increased volume and operating income of 4.5%." The planned spin-off of the EMS segment will be complete around the end of October, he added.

Gross profit as a percent of net sales for the quarter increased 20 basis points from the fourth quarter of the prior year. 

The company's overall net sales were $336.8 million, up 6%, and net income was $7.8 million, up 11%. Cash and equivalents increased to $136.6 million as of June 30, compared to $103.6 million a year ago.
